JapanBall Hall of Fame...and Cafe
An Essential Piece of Your Japan
Experience
What we tongue-in-cheek call the JapanBall Hall of Fame is open Monday
through Saturday for lunch and dinner until 10pm. It's located in the
easy-to-find Cafe Noodle Roje, a delightful little neighborhood cafe just blocks from the Tokyo
Dome.
The HOF was born in 2005 when Connie said, "Could
you help me see the rest of the stadiums after the main tour?"
We'd never
been asked that. We figured anyone going on to visit all the ballparks
certainly belonged in the JapanBall Hall of Fame, if we'd actually had such a thing.
So, in our heads at least, the HOF was born and
the Induction Committee set forth criteria for admission, which is essentially
seeing all the parks on one trip or completing the main tour three times.
We began to keep our eyes open for the
right spot to house the HOF and its member plaques. A place that would be welcoming to foreign baseball fans, give them a
personal feel for the country,
and serve food that's varied and easy to take.
We found the perfect spot. How we found it includes soup, a charming husband and wife restaurant team (the
husband of which we're convinced is Japan's former prime minister), their love of
baseball, and the atomic bomb.
If you're in Tokyo and don't find your way
there you'll have missed an essential piece of your Japan experience. Seriously.
