The Orix Buffaloes announced the acquisition of former Hanshin Tigers right-hander Ryan Vogelsong on Thursday.
Vogelsong is expected to serve as a middle reliever for his second team in Japan after going 10-10 with a 4.08 ERA over the past two seasons with Hanshin.
In 2008, the 31-year-old was 3-4 with a 3.99 ERA in 12 appearances, all starts.
