Rakuten bats come alive in rout of Orix

Fuminori Yokogawa hit a two-run home run to contribute in an
18-hit attack as the Rakuten Eagles walloped the Orix Buffaloes 11-1
in a preseason game on Thursday.

Yokogawa featured among four players who drove in two runs
apiece and Hiroshi Katayama pitched six innings of one-run ball at
Kyocera Dome.

Teppei Tsuchiya had three hits and drove in a run. Orix's Ryan
Vogelsong, acquired from the Hanshin Tigers this off-season, yielded
four runs and eight hits in 3-1/3 shaky innings.

In other action, Yoshihiko Yamamoto had a three-run drive among
his three hits as the Hiroshima Carp rallied from a six-run deficit
in the last four innings to beat the Chunichi Dragons 15-10.

Yamamoto's blast in the sixth inning cut Chunichi's lead to 10-7
before the Hiroshima bats ignited for eight runs to go ahead in the
last two frames at Nagaragawa stadium in Gifu Prefecture.

Kazuhiro Wada went 4-for-5 and Lee Byung Kyu hit a grand slam
for Chunichi.

Yokohama BayStars right-hander Daisuke Miura allowed one run
over four strong innings while Softbank Hawks outfielder Hitoshi
Tamura hit a solo shot in a 1-1 tie at Yokohama Stadium.
