LEAD: Darvish ablaze as Fighters shut out Marines

Yu Darvish pitched eight electric innings and got plenty of run
support as the Nippon Ham Fighters blanked the Lotte Marines 5-0 to
regain sole possession of first place Friday.

Darvish (10-2) walked leadoff man Tsuyoshi Nishioka in the first
inning but did not allow a hit until yielding consecutive singles to
Saburo Omura and Tasuku Hashimoto to start the eighth.

He struck out seven and walked two, retiring 15 in a row from
the third en route to becoming the first pitcher in Japanese baseball
to win 10 games this season.

Hichori Morimoto hit a solo homer in the first off Hiroyuki
Kobayashi (1-5) and Terrmel Sledge had a two-run shot to cap a
three-run eighth.

Lions 10, Hawks 4

Yoshihito Ishii and Yutaro Osaki drove in seven runs between
them as Seibu erupted to snap a five-game skid in a romp of Softbank.

Ishii cleared the bases with a one-out double and Osaki added an
RBI single one out later to give Seibu a 4-0 lead in the fourth. The
Lions sent 11 batters to the plate in a five-run fifth to put the
game out of reach. Takumi Kuriyama was 3-for-5 for Seibu.

Hideaki Wakui (8-3) limited the damage to one run and five hits
in eight innings. Yoshiaki Fujioka (2-2) got roughed up for seven
runs in 4-2/3 innings at Omiya Stadium.

Buffaloes 3, Eagles 1

Jose Fernandez had a tying single and Greg LaRocca followed with
a two-run homer off Masahiro Tanaka as Orix rallied over Rakuten at
Kyocera Dome.

Chihiro Kaneko (8-4) threw his second complete game of the year,
allowing four hits, all singles, striking out six and walking three.

Tanaka (8-2) gave up seven hits in a complete-game effort.

Central League

Giants 7, Swallows 2

At Tokyo Dome, Hayato Sakamoto had a pair of RBI singles among
his three hits and Dicky Gonzalez outpitched Shohei Tateyama as
Yomiuri ended Yakult's winning streak at seven games.

Yomiuri also snapped Tateyama's winning streak dating back to
last August at 14 decisions while extending its Central League lead
over Yakult to three games.

Lee Seung Yeop hit a solo blast in the fifth and Michihiro
Ogasawara had a two-run homer in the sixth, both off Tateyama (8-1),
who was charged with seven runs in six innings. Gonzalez (7-1)
allowed two runs in 5-2/3 innings.

Dragons 3, Carp 2

At Mazda Stadium, Masahiko Morino hit a go-ahead two-run homer
with no outs in the top of the ninth inning as Chunichi rallied to
beat Hiroshima for its fourth win in a row.

Morino's shot to right off Katsuhiro Nagakawa (1-4) gave
Chunichi a 3-2 lead. Hitoki Iwase pitched the bottom of the ninth for
his 17th save.

Takuya Asao (5-5) earned the win in relief. Tony Blanco hit his
league-leading 20th home run leading off the second for Chunichi.

Tigers 9, BayStars 4

At Koshien Stadium, Craig Brazell went 4-for-5 with three RBIs
as Hanshin handed Yokohama its third straight loss and ninth in 10
games.

Brazell singled in two runs in the first inning and drove in
another with a single in the sixth. Keisuke Kano and Takashi Toritani
each added two RBIs for Hanshin.

Yuya Ando (5-5) allowed three runs, one earned, in five innings.
Les Walrond (3-7) took the loss.
