Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama on Friday seized his visit to Pittsburgh to throw the ceremonial first pitch before a Major League Baseball game.
Wearing a Pittsburgh Pirates jersey, Hatoyama threw a low pitch that hit the dirt before the Los Angeles Dodgers-Pirates night game at PNC Park.
Asked by a Pirates official to sign a ball, Hatoyama wrote ''yu-ai'' or fraternity, which he has often advocated.
Hatoyama was visiting Pittsburgh to attend a two-day financial summit of the Group of 20 rich and developing nations, which wrapped up Friday.
