The Hanshin Tigers said Monday they signed left-hander Casey Fossum on a one-year deal worth $600,000. The 31-year-old Fossum has a 40-53 record with two saves and a 5.45 ERA in 237 major leagues games. This past season, he played for the New York Mets, where he posted a 2.25 ERA in three games. Senior club official Shoji Numazawa said Fossum possesses a variety of stuff to add depth to the pitching staff.
''He can add his breaking ball anytime and is good all around,'' Numazawa said.
