Orix Buffaloes outfielder Hiroyuki Oze was found dead Friday at a hotel in Miyakojima, Okinawa Prefecture, where the Pacific League club is conducting its spring training camp, in an apparent death-leap, police said.
The circumstances surrounding his death were not immediately known. He joined Orix in 2008 after graduating from Kinki University.
Last season, Oze, 24, batted .303 with no homers and 11 RBIs in 78 games on the top team.
