Some of the Seibu Lions' foreign players are asking for temporary leave from Japan amid concern about the safety of nuclear power plants in the aftermath of last week's earthquake, sources said Wednesday.
But the club is declining their request, saying there is no harm to human health at this point.
The Yokohama BayStars, meanwhile, said the same day that pitchers Brent Leach, Clayton Hamilton and Brandon Mann, infielder Brett Harper and outfielder Terrmel Sledge are going home Thursday and coming back to Japan next Tuesday.
''These guys have rarely experienced earthquakes,'' Yokohama manager Takao Obana said. ''It's understandable that they want to go home.''
