Lotte Marines second baseman Tadahito Iguchi re-signed with the club on Thursday for 180 million yen, unchanged from 2011, plus performance bonuses.
Iguchi batted .265 with nine home runs and 73 RBIs in 140 games in 2011, the final season of his three-year contract, as Lotte finished last in the Pacific League a year after winning the Japan Series.
''I slowed down a little bit in the second half of the season,'' said the 37-year-old former major leaguer. ''I'm determined to come up strong this year.''
Iguchi had personal training this winter in Nago, Okinawa Prefecture.
''I've had harder offseason training than in the past, and I'm ready physically,'' he said.
The team will begin camp on the Okinawan island of Ishigaki next Wednesday.
