Soccer: Japan beaten by Germany in seven-goal Algarve Cup final

FARO, Portugal - Celia Okoyino da Mbabi scored a hat-trick as
Germany brought women's world champions Japan crashing back to earth
with a thrilling 4-3 win to capture the Algarve Cup on Wednesday.

Two goals in the space of two minutes midway through the first
half from Dzsenifer Maroszan and Okoyino da Mbabi put the Germans in
control against the Japanese, who came into the match buoyed by a 1-0
win over the United States on Monday in a rerun of the Women's World
Cup final.

Soccer: Nagoya concede last-gasp equalizer to Seongnam

NAGOYA - Nagoya Grampus allowed Seongnam Ilhwa to equalize on
the last touch of the game as Dragan Stojkovic's side drew 2-2 in
their Asian Champions League opener on Wednesday night.

A vintage overhead shot in the dying seconds by Brazilian
striker Heverton, who also scored the first for the K-League
heavyweights early in the second half, denied Grampus victory as the
2009 semifinalists settled for a point before their home crowd.

Baseball: Miyaguni has another solid start for Yomiuri

KURASHIKI, Japan - Yomiuri Giants right-hander Ryosuke Miyaguni
continued to build his case for a spot in the rotation, allowing one
run in four innings in a 4-4 tie with the Hiroshima Carp in a
preseason game Wednesday.

The 19-year-old Okinawa native limited the Carp to three hits,
including a first-inning homer by Ryuhei Matsuyama, striking out four
and walking one at Muscat Stadium in his second outing of the spring.

Soccer: Japan to draw either Australia or S. Korea in World Cup
qualifiers

TOKYO - Japan paid the price for losing to Uzbekistan last week
as the Asian champions on Wednesday missed out on a seed at the draw
for the World Cup final qualifiers, guaranteeing themselves either
Australia or South Korea in their group.

The latest FIFA rankings released on this day had Japan as the
third highest ranked team in Asia behind Australia and South Korea.
The top two in the continent will be seeded at Friday's final draw
held in Kuala Lumpur.

Baseball: DeNA agrees to 7-year deal with Yokohama Stadium

YOKOHAMA - The Yokohama DeNA BayStars said Wednesday they have
agreed to a seven-year contract with Yokohama Stadium for use of the
ballpark.

Mobile phone game operator DeNA Co. has reiterated its plans to
own the BayStars for a long period of time and keep them in Yokohama
after taking over the struggling club from Tokyo Broadcasting System
Holdings Inc. for 9.5 billion yen.

UPDATE1: Golf: Ishikawa given special invitation to Masters

NEW YORK - Japanese golfer Ryo Ishikawa has received a special
invitation to the Masters Tournament starting April 5, organizers
said Tuesday.

The 20-year-old, currently ranked 53rd in the world, no longer
has to worry about trying to squeeze into the top 50 in the rankings
to be released the week before the Masters. He was duly pleased with
the invitation.
