The Yomiuri Giants said Monday they have signed their former second baseman Edgar Gonzalez through the end of the season.
The 33-year-old Gonzalez, who will make 20 million yen in salary, previously played for Yomiuri in 2010 mainly as a second baseman. He batted .263 with 12 home runs and 44 RBIs in 100 games that season.
Gonzalez, the older brother of the Boston Red Sox's All-Star first baseman Adrian, had been playing for the Chicago Cubs' Triple-A Iowa this year.
