The Seibu Lions have reached agreements on 2013 contracts with infielders Jose Ortiz and Esteban German and left-handed reliever Randy Williams, the team revealed Thursday.
Ortiz was signed by Seibu in June for his eighth PL season. The 35-year-old batted .286 with nine homers and 21 RBIs in 64 games, helping propel the Lions from fifth place to second.
German, 34, played in every game, batted .270 and led the Lions with 57 walks and 41 stolen bases in his first season in Japan. He was the first foreigner with 40 steals since 23-year-old Chico Barbon stole 55 for the Hankyu Braves in 1956 and the third-oldest player in Japan to steal 40 in a season.
Williams, 37, appeared in 55 games and went 4-3 with 25 holds and four saves. He had a 1.70 ERA in 42-1/3 innings.
