TOKYO - Schalke's Japan international defender Atsuto Uchida returned to Japan on Friday to undergo tests on a thigh injury sustained last in last weekend's 2-0 Bundesliga win at home to Hannover 96.
Schalke said Monday that Uchida had torn a muscle in his right thigh and may have also suffered tendon damage. He faces the prospect of surgery and a lengthy spell on the sidelines, depending on the results of the tests.

TOKYO - The Top League relegation/promotion game between NTT Communications Shining Arcs and Yokogawa Musashino Atlastars has been postponed until Feb. 22 due to heavy snowfall in the Kanto area, the Japan Rugby Football Union announced Friday.
The game, originally scheduled for Saturday at Kumagaya Rugby Ground, was postponed out of concerns for the safety of the fans and players as well as the conditions at the stadium.
