TOKYO, March 24 (20:30) Kyodo

U.S. Ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy will throw out the
ceremonial pitch for the season opener at Tokyo Dome on Friday when
the Yomiuri Giants play the rival Hanshin Tigers, the Giants
announced Monday.

Kennedy, the daughter of late U.S. President John F. Kennedy,
will take the mound ahead of the three-game series as the Giants
celebrate their 80th season as a franchise.

Nearly 200 former players and staff are scheduled to take part
in a memorial ceremony marking the 80-year history of Japanese
baseball's most storied club.
