The Hanshin Tigers on Tuesday announced the acquisition of Dominican right-hander Esteban Yan, who has a 33-39 record with 51 saves and a 5.14 ERA over 11 major league seasons.
The 31-year-old Yan joins the Central League club on a one-year contract after splitting the 2006 season between the Los Angeles Angels and the Cincinnati Reds.
He made a total of 27 relief appearances, picking up one win and one save for Cincinnati.
''He's had a strong major league career and we've kept close eyes on him since 2004,'' Hanshin club president Toshihiro Makita said.
