Yakult to get services of minor league lefty Barrett

The Yakult Swallows said Tuesday they have acquired Minnesota
Twins minor league left-hander Ricky Barrett on a one-year contract
worth 50 million yen, plus performance bonuses.
Yakult will hold a club option for a second year on Barrett, 27,
who went 4-5 with two saves and a 3.21 ERA in 50 games for Triple-A
Rochester in 2008.
Barrett, who has no experience in the majors but is expected to
add much-needed depth to the Yakult bullpen, has good command of a
fastball which clocks in the 150 kilometer-per-hour range.
